What to Do at Grand Hotel and on Mackinac Island?
These are just a few of our favorite things to do with children. For a full list please visit the Activities section of our website.
Lawn Games
Bocci ball and croquet can be enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings of the Grand Hotel gardens, adjacent to the swimming pool.
Chess Anyone?
Located at the east end of the Grand Hotel porch you will find a chessboard. Pick your partner and make for a memorable match. A game room with a variety of coin-operated games is located in T. Richards on the lobby level.
Swimming
Esther Williams Swimming Pool is heated from around Memorial Day to Labor Day. Have fun on the inflatable snake in the pool and enjoy a snow cone. Bean bag toss is also available on the pool lawn.
Grand Hotel Stables
Grand Hotel’s horse stable is located at Surrey Hills, just across from Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory. It is home to twelve horses and open to the public daily. At 8,700 square feet, it’s a great way to see the horses up close, along with 20 antique carriages from both Grand Hotel and Mackinac Island Carriage Tours.
Fort Mackinac
Fort Mackinac is a National Historic Landmark and the sentinel of the Straits of Mackinac. There are many historical sites around Mackinac Island that should not be missed.
Bicycling
Rent a bike from the pool house and ride around the perimeter of Mackinac Island or be adventurous through over 70 miles of paved and unpaved paths on Mackinac Island.
