Pearl’s New Orleans Kitchen – Elk Rapids

0

Cajun/Creole Cookin’
Formed from French roots, livened with Spanish spices, inspired by African vegetables, caribbeanized by West Indian hands, laced with black pepper and pork by the Germans, infiltered with potatoes by the Irish, blasted by garlic and tomatoes by the Italians.

New Orleans cuisine is a rich melting pot of influences and ingredients, and Pearl’s embraces the roots of both Cajun (rural) and Creole (city) styles of cooking. We offer authentic and enduring southern specialties like Etouffé, Jambalaya, Oysters Rockefeller and Fried Green Tomatoes, alongside crawfish, shrimp and other fresh seafood. Learn the right way to eat a crawfish, enjoy a New Orleans style Po’ Boy sandwich, or step out and try some blackened alligator!

Pearl’s New Orleans Kitchen ~ He Fed / She Fed
Our server relates the night’s specials, including blackened marlin over penne in an artichoke cream sauce; a Cajun strip steak with blue cheese crumbles; and two seasonal cocktails, one of which features vodka infused with lemongrass and fresh ginger. I’m a sucker for ginger with lemongrass and order one to cool down from the day’s heat….

Short’s Brewing Company – Bellaire

0

In April of 2004 we opened the doors to Short’s Brewing Company in the quaint Village of Bellaire. Beer was the mission, and liberation was the movement. With a lot of elbow grease, blind ambition and a little luck, the quest to create a community pub in Northwest Lower Michigan began to take shape. The philosophy was to bring an appreciation of craft beer to the north with product education and creativity. The process of appreciation through education we call beer liberation.

The Pub has been hand crafted just as much as the food and beer. We are a non smoking family fun place. We take pride in the warmth and friendliness of our pub and all the goods it bears. We encourage you to come out any time and get a real Bellaire experience.

Learn about the beer and the company from our fantastic crew or just kick back and relax. The pub has free WiFi so you can bring your computer to do some work or do a little beer rating with a sampler on the side. We believe the pub to be a place of community and local activity just as the pubs had been during colonial times. It’s sort of the hub of the Village. We host live music, dance lessons and various other events throughout the year. If you don’t have time to stay, you can always get beer, food and SBC gear to go.

The Rowe Inn – Ellsworth

0

The Rowe Inn of Ellsworth, Michigan, offers an intimate, casual atmosphere of fine dining for Charlevoix, Torch Lake and all of Northern Michigan. You’ll find our seasonal menus and expansive fine wine collection perfect for any occasion. Individuals, couples, groups and families are equally welcome and catered to. All our meals and wines are served with passion and commitment unsurpassed by anyone in Northern Michigan’s fine dining industry.

Northern Michigan fine dining cuisine at the Rowe Inn

The Rowe Inn’s team takes great pride in creating and serving superior fine dining cuisine and wines. Many of our meals are prepared with the freshest, locally-produced ingredients. And those that aren’t are carefully chosen to ensure we serve only the best.

Much like a traditional French country inn, our fine dining menus change often based on the latest seasonal specialty ingredients offered by nature.

We’re passionate about our fine wines

In addition to our exquisite fine dining, The Rowe inn is both passionate towards – and well known for – our selection of the world’s finest wines.

We offer a 10% discount for those interested in purchasing 12-bottle cases – and those selections can be mixed in a variety of combinations. Please ask for more information – or for help with your wine selections.

The Rowe Inn’s fine dining heritage

Albert “Wes” Westhoven, Proprietor
Wes is truly a restaurant brat. Born into a restaurant family, his parents had a country club restaurant dining room. He began as a dishwasher at 10, became a Prep and Garne Mange at 12, a line cook at 14 and, finally, a chef at 16. His dad and mentor died in 1968 as he was finishing his MBA in Hotel & Restaurant Management at Michigan State University. Afterwards, Wes became General Manager and Maitre’d at the hotel. His mom retired in 1972 and he had “had it” with the country club – and wanted a place of his own.

Wes decided on purchasing The Rowe Inn (a chicken and burger place) in the culinary wasteland of Northern Michigan. He introduced a simple concept: the ambiance of a French country inn, fresh local ingredients, French techniques and casual dining. The Rowe Inn still adheres to those same basic principles after 36 years. Wes sometimes believes he must have been crazy – committing to all those years with four foundational philosophies – but it’s those same principles which bring the Rowe Inn such success as the superior fine dining restaurant in Northern Michigan.

“We pioneered fine dining in northern Michigan. We’ve been blessed with glowing reviews and a host of awards including DiRona, Triple A, Gourmet, and Food & Wine. But the most important thing has been to make our customers happy while putting great food and wine on their tables. I think we accomplish that with both pride and honor.”
